Description
Space Invaders is a timeless arcade classic originally released in 1978. This single-page web application brings the retro gaming experience to your browser with no installation required. Battle against waves of alien invaders as you defend Earth from extraterrestrial threats!
How to Play
Objective
Destroy all the alien invaders before they reach the bottom of the screen. Survive as many waves as possible and achieve the highest score!
Controls
- Arrow Keys (← →) or A/D Keys: Move your ship left and right
- Spacebar: Fire your laser cannon
- Mobile: Touch controls for movement and shooting (if implemented)
Gameplay
- Your Ship: You control the green ship at the bottom of the screen
- Aliens: Rows of alien invaders move horizontally across the screen and gradually descend
- Shooting: Fire lasers to destroy aliens before they reach you
- Enemy Fire: Watch out! Aliens shoot back
- Shields: Use barriers for protection (if available)
- Lives: You typically start with 3 lives
- Scoring: Different alien types award different points
Tips
- Aim for the Top Row: Higher aliens are usually worth more points
- Use Cover: Hide behind shields when enemy fire gets intense
- Corner Aliens: Take out aliens on the edges—they make the group move faster as their numbers decrease
- Stay Mobile: Keep moving to avoid enemy fire
- Don't Rush: Accuracy is more important than speed
